Hello guys! I am MagicalJoey, and I will be heading up some fun times and prompts from here on out (with the help of the team). We would like to jump start the group again, and with that – a bit of a challenge for June. If you aren’t all familiar with Special Holiday Fun, we are going to introduce you in the best way possible. Each month will feature a Special Holiday prompt for you guys to gain inspiration from and give us something wonderful!

ALSO! We shall be doing some weekly prompts for you as well. These are generally going to be photo or phrase prompts, but could also be word, music, video or Special Holiday Fun related and will vary in word counts to mix up the challenge. Everyone who enters this challenge will get a month long feature by the group, so we hope the incentive is high enough for you guys to really participate! Let’s see what you got!!

This year, 2017, is "International Sustainable Tourism for Development" year. While this doesn't sound all that 'writable', it does allow for short stories about other 'foreign' places or people, even some non-fiction too (think travel experiences, sans Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). So, if you want to write anything on this prompt you have 2017 words (see what I did there) minimum to write your story. (Try not to make it more than 10k words...some of us readers are old and wear glasses and all that jazzy stuff).

June, among other things, is "Mud Month" (it's also "Candy Month") so I challenge you to write a story of 5000 words or less that has mud as a key factor in it somehow. Another option, for the poets, would be to write a Sonnet declaring your undying love for mud, or imploring mud to protect you from something. Please, nothing NSFW...let's all be respectful and mature adult people here.

Now, for Weekly Prompts. Due to a very high work load, I am unable to update this regularly each week, so what I will do is place all four week's prompts at once. This gives you the added option of doing a future week's prompt if you don't like the current week's one. Weekly prompt entries will be placed in the featured folder for the next month, along with the month's entries, giving you a whole month's feature on our page.

Week One: 1 June - 4 June:
Sunday 4 June is "Cancer Survivor's Day" so with that in mind write an inspirational story about someone who has survived this horrid disease. It can be fiction or non-fiction, as long as you give proper credits where they are due. I suppose it could even be historical fiction if there is a historical cancer survivor you want to write about (once again, if using this genre and you get stuck pop a note to doughboycafe or neurotype-on-discord - dbc is mostly harmful and neuro only bites if you poke too hard - as they are the experts (I know of) in this genre). You have maximum 8765 words to play with.
Note: Animals can, and do, also get cancer. You can write about an animal survivor too

Week Two: 5 June - 11 June :
Tuesday 6 June is "Drive-in Movie Day" so your next challenge is to write a scene from a movie - in script format. It can be a work of fan fiction if you want, based off your favourite movie, or just a plain fiction scene you have in your head. Again, no NSFW things please. There is no word limit to this - your only limit is your imagination and the scene you choose.

Week Three: 12 June - 18 June:
Wednesday 14 June is "International Bath Day" and so your next challenge is to write a horror or a thriller or a mystery or a suspense that somehow involves a bath, someone bathing or a bathroom. You have unlimited words for this, and because of the genres some NSFW, I'm thinking gore and mental "OMS" moments, is applicable.

Week Four: 19 June - 25 June:
Tuesday 20 June is "World Refugee Day" and with the increase in bombings, political panderings and refugees in general I thought this would be a good day to highlight. Here I'm looking for pieces highlighting the plight of refugees - maybe they were xenophobic victims, bombing victims - so either a non fiction or a very well written fiction would suffice. You have a limit here, because I want a story that is impactful, so you have 2500 words maximum.

Week Five: 26 June - 30 June:
Friday 30 June is "Social Media Day" so your final challenge for the month is to write a 'tweet' of 140 characters or less. This can be about any topic, within reason, but nothing NSFW is allowed.

And that, my friends, is when June ends and the month of hopeful rain begins. Enjoy! And remember, any questions can come directly to the group, to myself MagicalJoey or to any one of the admins.
